    Art In The Wild 2024: Nature Heals

    Visit naturally inspired trailside creations along Wildwood Park’s wandering trails and wetlands. Using mostly natural materials, artists have constructed large and small installations. This year’s theme is “Nature Heals.” A map-brochure about the exhibit is available online, at the kiosks or inside the Nature Center. Art In the Wild is Presented by the Mooney family foundation.

    Wellness Wednesday Walks

    Enjoy a moderately-paced walk around Wildwood lake while enjoying the trees and animals at the park. This will be a walk on paved, gravel, and dirt surfaces. You can choose to walk only a portion, then turn around at any point if you would like to customize the length of your walk to your individual fitness goals.

    Forest Bathing - Nature-Based Mindfulness Walk

    Sold out! - July Program is still available for registration. On this slow-paced walk, you will be invited to experience your breathing, senses, and the natural environment at various locations throughout Wildwood Park. Participants should be able to walk about 1- 1.5 miles on paved, gravel, and wood plank trails with some elevation gain. The program concludes with a lovely forest tea.

    Stop by the summer kitchen at Fort Hunter’s Tavern House to see what’s cooking. Guests are invited to stop in and ask questions as we prepare a hearty luncheon over the open hearth. This is an informal meet-and-greet style program so registration is not required.

    Local artist Amanda Rife of Mosaic Montage will be leading a crafting session in the Historic Centennial Barn. Each participant will design their own modern mosaic artwork inspired by Dutch hex signs commonly seen on barns throughout the region.

    Walk with a Doc - Five Senses Garden

    Join us for a moderately paced walk on a section of the Capital Area Greenbelt. The Walk with a Doc program is designed to provide some general health tips and a moderately-paced walk. A Park Rx Wellness Program sponsored by Highmark Blue Shield and supported by Penn State Health.

    Kids Discover: Pollywogs (Ages 5-10)

    Join a Naturalist at Detweiler Park for a fun day of pond/creek exploration. Children will have the chance to catch and release tadpoles and other critters in Detweiler Pond using nets. Dress for the weather, water shoes recommended but not required. Registrants must be accompanied by a chaperone for the duration of the program. A maximum of one chaperone per child is permitted. Space is limited. Pre-registration required.

    Wetlands Festival

    Explore Wildwood Park’s treasured wetlands for our 24th Annual Wetlands Festival! Join us for a day of free, fun, and educational activities with special musical guests and food trucks. Enjoy wildlife exhibits, walks, and a wide variety of local and regional environmental organizations. Interact with live animals and make crafts to take home. There is something for everyone!

    Bird Walk: Peak Migration

    Meet Rick and Peggy Price at the Nature Center Parking Lot to search for migrating songbirds. This can be the best walk of the year when it comes to the variety of species seen. Warblers, phoebes, wrens, orioles, other songbirds and raptors are all a possibility. Spring migration will be in full swing! This program is part of the Park Rx series of programs sponsored by Highmark Blue Shield. Space is limited. Pre-registration required.
