Art Heals: Bluebird Planter Workshop
, HarrisburgJoin us for a relaxing planter workshop! The bluebird bowl is 8" W x 2" H. Participants will assemble the nest and plant the garden. Everything shown in the picture is included in the workshop. -
Introduction to Birding
Join Rick and Peggy Price for an introductory course on birdwatching. Learn the basics with an indoor PowerPoint presentation followed by a short walk outdoors on the Delta Boardwalk to practice using binoculars and identifying bird calls. This program is geared for participants 16 years or older. -
Flower Walk: Earliest Bloomers – Park Rx
Join volunteer Jane Earle to seek out Skunk Cabbage along Fox Run Trail. Meet at the North Lot Parking area. We may see other cold tolerant plants and anything left over from winter. Participants in attendance for any flower walk in 2025 will be entered into a raffle with the chance to win a wildflower-themed gift basket from the Nature Shop courtesy of the Friends of Wildwood. Bonsai Workshop
, HarrisburgSample the Japanese art form known as bonsai. This workshop will provide you with a brief history, a Juniper (Procumbens nana), wire, chopstick, small pruners and a care sheet. Instructors from Fat Cat Bonsai will guide you from selection of a viewing side to trunk and branch placement. Create your own living art. Proceeds benefit the Friends of Wildwood. March Hike – Park Rx
Join a Naturalist for a hike on some of Wildwood’s less traveled trails. Look for the first signs of spring like skunk cabbage, garter snakes, and more. Please dress for the weather and wear sturdy close-toed shoes. The hike will be around 3 miles. This program is part of the Park Rx series of programs sponsored by Highmark Blue Shield. Walk with a Doc
Come chat with Weis Regional Dietitian Melissa Logan, MHSc, RDN, LDN to learn some easy nutrition tips you can use to have a healthy 2025. The walk will be from City Island along the Harrisburg Riverfront to Shipoke and back along the riverfront. The Walk with a Doc program is designed to provide some general health tips and a moderately-paced walk. This is an out and back walk so participants can choose to turn around at any point to customize the length of their walk. This walk will be on paved walking conditions and is accessible for those using a wheelchair. Children are required to be accompanied by a responsible adult. Dogs are welcome if they are on a leash. Pre-registration is required. Space is limited. A Park Rx wellness program sponsored by Highmark Blue Shield and supported by Penn State Health with program coordination between Penbrook Parks & Recreation, Susquehanna Township Parks and Recreation, Capital Area Greenbelt Association and Dauphin County Parks & Recreation. -
Preschool Storytime: Spring at Wildwood!
Join a Dauphin County Library System Librarian and Wildwood Environmental Educator for a fun story session for children ages 2-5. Stories, songs, rhymes, play and an activity will introduce Wildwood critters and the joy of books and language to youngsters. Kids Discover: Woodpeckers (Ages 5-10)
Do woodpeckers get headaches? Learn all about woodpeckers and their adaptations. Discover what they eat, where they live and make a woodpecker craft. A walk will follow where we will search for signs of woodpeckers in Wildwood Park. Dress for the weather. Registrants must be accompanied by a chaperone for the duration of the program.
