    Trick or Treat Trek

    Calling all ghosts and ghouls! Come in costume to Fort Hunter Park for the Trick or Treat Trek. Follow the clues to keep your search on track. Your reward? Goodies at each stop along the way! This adventure is for those age 12 & younger. Trick or Treat Trek is sponsored by The Hershey Company and presented in collaboration with Dauphin County Department of Drug and Alcohol Services.

    Walk with a Doc - Reservoir Park

    Join us for a 1.25-mile walk at Reservoir Park! This Walk With A Doc program is designed to provide some general health information and a moderately-paced walk around Reservoir Park and the National Civil War Museum including a portion of the Greenbelt. It will be a 1.25-mile loop walking around Reservoir Park and the National Civil War Museum. A Park Rx wellness program sponsored by Highmark Blue Shield and supported by Penn State Health.

    Boy Scouts Wolves: Paws on the Path

    Before Wolves can put their paws on the path they must first learn how to prepare for a hike. In this adventure find out what equipment and skills are essential to take along on a hike and examine the role of “Leave No Trace”. Discover how to identify birds and other wildlife, then take a hike to explore the wildlife, wetlands and forests of Wildwood Park. Dress for the weather. Sneakers or other close-toed shoes recommended.

    Fall fruits are not just a favorite of squirrels and chipmunks! There are a few humans can enjoy as well. Take a walk with a Naturalist along the Towpath Trail to view and taste these curious fall fruits known as persimmons. Meet at the South Lot trailhead.

    Join an Environmental Educator for fun interactive story session for children ages 3-5. Stories, rhymes, and a craft/activity will introduce science through the eyes of the Cat In The Hat. Classes are offered during 3 consecutive Thursdays.

    Wooden Bouquets to Brighten your Day

    Join The Merry Woodsman, a local artist and woodworker for a workshop to create a wooden “bouquet.” Each participant will create their own arrangement, combining wooden pieces both milled and foraged. Use the many native tree varieties to assemble your own unique piece of art. A glass vase will be provided, nestled in a wooden base.

    Birds & Coffee with Appalachian Audubon

    Stop by the Nature Center Bird Viewing Area for a warm cup of bird- friendly coffee, tea or hot cocoa with the Appalachian Audubon Society. Discover what birds visit our feeders most often and learn how to identify each one.
