Art In The Wild 2024: Nature Heals
, HarrisburgVisit naturally inspired trailside creations along Wildwood Park’s wandering trails and wetlands. Using mostly natural materials, artists have constructed large and small installations. This year’s theme is “Nature Heals.” A map-brochure about the exhibit is available online, at the kiosks or inside the Nature Center. Art In the Wild is Presented by the Mooney family foundation. -
Canal Days and What Remains
, HarrisburgExplore the engineering required, famous travelers who passed by Fort Hunter, and what has been left behind of the once awe-inspiring Pennsylvania Canals. The exhibit is included in a tour of the Mansion. Closed on Mondays. -

Wellness Wednesday Walks
, HarrisburgEnjoy a moderately-paced walk around Wildwood lake while enjoying the trees and animals at the park. This will be a walk on paved, gravel, and dirt surfaces. You can choose to walk only a portion, then turn around at any point if you would like to customize the length of your walk to your individual fitness goals. -

Monarch Tagging
Join a Naturalist near Heckton Church along the River for an afternoon of Monarch Tagging. Learn about Monarch Watch and Project Monarch Health, annual community science efforts to help track Monarch Butterfly migrations and population trends. Try your luck with a butterfly net and get a chance to tag a butterfly with a unique round sticker. The program is for children or adults. This program is part of the Park Rx series of programs sponsored by Highmark Blue Shield. Pre-registration required. -
Sound Meditation
, HarrisburgJoin Certified Sound Therapist, Matthew Kramer for a Community Sound Meditation. Sound Meditations encourage deep listening practices which can create an ideal entry point for a meditative experience, particularly for anyone who has struggled to embrace more traditional forms of meditation. -
Kids Discover: Creek Critters (Ages 5-10)
Join a Naturalist at Lykens Glen for a fun evening exploring the Rattling Creek. Discover what lives in the water and learn all about macroinvertebrates. Dress for the weather; this program will take place entirely outdoors. Closed-toe shoes (water shoes or old sneakers) are highly recommended as we will be walking over slippery rocks in the creek. Ages 5-10, one chaperone per child. Pre-registration required. -
Walk with a Doc - Fort Hunter Greenbelt
, HarrisburgJoin us for a Walk With A Doc walk on the Greenbelt Connector starting at Fort Hunter Park. The walk will be approximately 2 miles in length, but it is a well-marked path and you can choose to do as much or as little as you would like. The pathway is paved and wheelchair accessible.
