Evidence-Informed Programs
*Programs are very similar to Evidence-Based, but the level of evidence supporting the programs or practices is not as strong. These programs are emerging or promising in their design.
Celebrating Families (Parents & Families)
This program is an evidence based cognitive behavioral, support group model written for families in which one or both parents have a serious problem with alcohol or other drugs and in which there is a high risk for domestic violence, child abuse, or neglect. Celebrating Families! works with every member of the family, from ages 3 through adult, to strengthen recovery from alcohol and/or other drugs, break the cycle of addiction and increase successful family reunification. Celebrating Families!™ fosters the development of safe, healthy, fulfilled, and addiction-free individuals and families by increasing resiliency factors and decreasing risk factors while incorporating addiction recovery concepts with healthy family living skills.
Club Ophelia (Elementary and Middle School Girls Only)
To teach middle school girls about healthy relationships. This after school program educates girls about relational aggression, teaches them how to relate the information on relational aggression to their own lives, and shows them how to integrate what they have learned into the lives and to think about how they could help another girl who is either a victim or a bully.
Interrupted Programs (Elementary, Middle, High School Students)
Developed by our department, Interrupted is designed to help at risk youth learn about the harms of substances and practice skills to avoid or stop using them. Interrupted is offered as programs specified towards the substance being used:
Interrupted: Underage Drinking
Interrupted: Marijuana
Interrupted: Nicotine & Vaping
Interrupted: Gateway Drugs
Interrupted: Stepping Stones
This program is specifically for children who are experiencing substance use in their lives through family members or their home environment. This program helps educate the students and equip them with skills to cope.
Too Much to Lose (Elementary, Middle, and High School Students)
This program is designed to deliver problem gambling prevention. The program has educational and interactive activities to be used with youth in the 3rd – 12th grade classrooms or small group setting. This primary prevention program consists of four (4) forty-five-minute sessions for elementary students and high school students and six (6) forty-five (45) minute sessions for middle school. Topics that are discussed consist of:
Defining Gambling
Addiction and Risk Taking
Phases of Gambling
Refusal Skills
The Consequences of Gambling
Recognizing Problem Gambling
Coping and Getting Help for Gambling
Addiction
Students receive 10 sessions, sessions are approximately 45 minutes long
