Dauphin County is committed to providing equal access to justice to all limited English proficiency (LEP) litigants upon the appropriate request being submitted, regardless of the language they speak.   The Dauphin County Court Administrator’s office provides language interpreters to LEP litigants for judicial proceedings and court services and programs.  Interpreters are provided at no cost to the LEP litigant.

Court Interpreters are provided in all criminal, juvenile delinquency, juvenile dependency, custody, protection from abuse, adoption, and civil cases that are held in front of Presiding Judicial Officers where litigants have LEP.

To obtain an interpreter for an upcoming court proceeding, please complete the Interpreter Request Form as soon as the court appearance is scheduled.  Provide detailed information about the court proceeding, language, dialect, and country of origin.

If an interpreter is scheduled and no longer needed, please send an email to InterpreterRequest@dauphincounty.gov as soon as possible.  It is imperative that a minimum of forty-eight (48) hours’ notice of cancelation be given.

Please complete the Interpreter Waiver Form if an interpreter has been provided and the client wishes to waive their right to the interpreter services.

If you believe your right to meaningful language has not been met, please complete the Language Services Complaint Form.
