Participate in “America Recycles Day” on Nov. 15: Visit the Dauphin County Recycling Center for a Free Gift!

Nov 10, 2022

The Dauphin County Commissioners and the county Department of Solid Waste & Recycling encourage residents to participate in America Recycles Day on Tuesday, Nov. 15.

This federally designated day recognizes the impact and importance of recycling.

“Although recycling rates have increased in recent decades, there is still much more we all can do to protect the environment,” Commissioner Chair Mike Pries said.

On Tuesday, the first 100 people to drop off recyclables at the county Recycle Center (1625 South Cameron Street, Harrisburg) will receive a free – recycled! – water bottle.

The center opens at 8:30 a.m. and closes at 4:30 p.m. every weekday.

Residents can drop off cardboard newspaper, magazines, polystyrene (Styrofoam), other plastics or recycle electronics for free and appliances for a small fee.

County Commissioners Mike Pries, Chad Saylor, and George P. Hartwick, III recently filmed a video on where and how you can recycle in Dauphin County – watch it HERE.

Since 2001, Dauphin County has recycled over 10,000 tons of electronics and more than 1.6 million tons of common recyclables like cardboard and plastics.

If you see illegal dumping, report it by calling 717-255-2677.
