    Art In The Wild 2024: Nature Heals

    Visit naturally inspired trailside creations along Wildwood Park’s wandering trails and wetlands. Using mostly natural materials, artists have constructed large and small installations. This year’s theme is “Nature Heals.” A map-brochure about the exhibit is available online, at the kiosks or inside the Nature Center. Art In the Wild is Presented by the Mooney family foundation.

    Wellness Wednesday Walks

    Enjoy a moderately-paced walk around Wildwood lake while enjoying the trees and animals at the park. This will be a walk on paved, gravel, and dirt surfaces. You can choose to walk only a portion, then turn around at any point if you would like to customize the length of your walk to your individual fitness goals.

    Walk with a Doc - Italian Lake

    Join us for a moderately paced walk around Italian Lake in Harrisburg. Street parking is available near Italian Lake. Meet up will be by the Pavilion. One can access it without stairs at its entrances on Division St. and Edwards St. The Division St entrance is closer to the pavilion. There is street parking along Division St, 3rd St, 4th St, and Edward St.A Park Rx Wellness Program sponsored by Highmark Blue Shield and supported by Penn State Health.

    Daisies & Brownies: Shapes in Nature

    Exploring outdoors is always enjoyable and even more so when searching for shapes and patterns in nature. During this program scouts will investigate Wildwood Park to discover patterns in insects, leaves, spiders and their webs. They will also observe the many colors of birds and record their findings on a chart or graph. With the help of staff, scouts will report their bird count to eBird. The program will end with a craft and summary of their discoveries. Please bring a snack and a drink. Dress for the weather. Sneakers or other close-toed shoes recommended. Leaders are responsible for obtaining badges for their scouts. Pre-registration required.

    Introduction to Kayaking on the Swatara Creek

    This adventurous wellness program is geared for those interested in learning how to kayak. Enjoy approximately six miles of easy paddling for approximately two hours on the normally gentle, tree lined Swatara Creek. This guided two-hour evening paddle will let you discover firsthand why many are getting involved in this healthy life-long hobby. Guides will provide kayak skill instruction before and during the trip.
