    Art In The Wild 2024: Nature Heals

    Visit naturally inspired trailside creations along Wildwood Park’s wandering trails and wetlands. Using mostly natural materials, artists have constructed large and small installations. This year’s theme is “Nature Heals.” A map-brochure about the exhibit is available online, at the kiosks or inside the Nature Center. Art In the Wild is Presented by the Mooney family foundation.

    Wellness Wednesday Walks

    Enjoy a moderately-paced walk around Wildwood lake while enjoying the trees and animals at the park. This will be a walk on paved, gravel, and dirt surfaces. You can choose to walk only a portion, then turn around at any point if you would like to customize the length of your walk to your individual fitness goals.

    Zoombalicious Outdoor Zumba Class

    Join instructors Sandy Johnson & Charisee Grayer from Zoombalicious for a fun night of dancing! An outdoor Zumba class is a fun and energetic way to get your heart pumping while enjoying the fresh air and sunshine. You'll dance to upbeat music and follow along with choreographed moves that will work your entire body. This class is held outdoors at Fort Hunter Park on the lawn in front of the Centennial Barn at Fort Hunter Park. The class is open to adults and children ages 6 and older. Anyone under 18 years of age must be accompanied by a responsible adult. Pre-registration is required. Space is limited. This is a Park Rx program sponsored by Highmark Blue Shield.

The day will include games, activities, and an interactive tour of Fort Hunter Mansion. This program is suited for students ages 7-12 years.

    Art Heals: Wind Chimes Workshop

    Join Chris Pettman, a local artisan, and member of the Millersburg Art Association, as she presents a two-hour Wind Chime Workshop. Participants will learn about the different parts of a windchime, then you will choose a glass bottle, sale, and clapper. Chris brings tons of beads to choose from to make each windchime truly unique and one-of-a-kind. All materials and instruction are included, and individual creativity is encouraged.

    Explore the world of insects and discover their important roles in our environment. Scouts will examine insect habitats while on a hike and take a closer look at these amazing creatures by catching and identifying bugs at Wildwood. The program will end with an insect craft. Please bring a drink, snack, and lunch. Dress for indoor and outdoor activities and wear closed-toed shoes. Scouts will complete the requirements for the patch and/or badge. Patch and badges are not provided by Wildwood. Pre-registration required.

    Join massage therapist, yoga teacher, and community herbalist Sara Rose, to take a walk in the woods and explore the wisdom and healing available in nature. We will explore breath work, mindfulness walking practice, and talk about medicinal plants and trees growing in our region. We'll also discuss the scientifically proven benefits of devoting more time to being with the plants. A Park Rx wellness program sponsored by Highmark.
